The Power of Power

I woke up about an hour before class. After checking my e-mail, my screen suddenly dimmed, and my laptop switched to battery power. I figured that using power strips plugged into power strips plugged into power strips finally overloaded the one outlet I have everything plugged into.

I opened our door to a surprisingly black hallway, students already running a-flashlight-muck in the darkness. I began making the treck to the other side of campus, thinking it was only my building that had a shortage. Although losing electricity is a definate inconvience, I was openly accepting of the change in routine. Class was cancelled.

After waking up unnecessarily after the one night I was able to fall asleep before four, and even though I was fine being six hours away from Pittsburgh last year at a college which I liked a bit less, and even though I knew it would all last a whole two hours, and even though I’m 19, the entire time I was laying in my much-too-high bed with “When I’m Gone” and “Here Without You” and “Be Like That” streaming out of my iRiver, the only thing I could think was, “Man, I hope this means I can go home.”

Dorm Familiarities

I decided to move back to my own domain. My host was and is wonderful, but I have a lot to add and didn’t want to take her space for granted. This is a temporary layout until October, when I can do something for Halloween.

College Desk TopMy horrible college network doesn’t allow the installation of anything. On the bright side, there’s plenty of eccentric professors, random announcements of latenight parties, and magically-appearing phallics on hallway dry-erase boards. I’m planning on playing lacrosse again in the Spring and studying in Madrid next year. I was very, very lucky to be put in the Hall that I was assigned. For now, I need to kill a spider before my roommate gets back and kills me for letting it live.

Where Pebbles Are Polished and Diamonds Are Dimmed

The first week is almost over, and it was excruciatingly long. My classes are basic. I won’t bore either of us with the details. Is anyone on facebook?

I’m going to add a creative section to keep the stuff that wouldn’t necessarily fit on the daily pages. Also, I was just hired as an editor at the Martini Lounge. So, please, visit.

Thanks for all of the e-mails.
