2008 Bloggies
Ok, so I didn’t take home a Bloggie this year, but the ceremony was really cool. I finally met Aimee, who was the cutest and sweetest, and continued to creep on the Armstrongs.
I didn’t take notes on all of the winners, but you can find them at the main site. Dooce cleaned up, winning “best American,” “best-designed,” “lifetime achievement,” and “weblog of the year.”
I Can Has Cheezburger? won “best topical” and “best photography.” I almost lost it when he gave his acceptance speech: “K THX BYE.” Seriously.
Lifehacker won for “best computer or technology.”
And a lot more! Thanks to Michael and Woy for tuning into the announcements (it was the coolest feeling ever to see your names in the chat room, which was projected on a screen in the middle of the room), and to everyone for their tweets.
Now I’m watching Frank Warren, and he is absolutely the best speaker I’ve seen all weekend. And all is wonderful.

Aww I didn’t know there was a chat room. I would have been there. I know everyone in PGH is stoked that you went as far as you did!
I couldn’t really interact too much because I was working… but that would have been funny if I had said something snarky. :)
Like I said, I think youz wuz robbed but you represented Pittsburgh and everything that’s great about our community very well. Congratulations!
That’s so cool the chat was projected, didn’t even think that might have happened. Like Woy I was working, so just watched.
I’m so glad you were able to go, even though you didn’t win the award. My guess is that you were just glad to be in the same room with people such as Dooce. Congratulations on your hard work!
Your blog is definitely better of mine, and I voted for it. I am dismayed that mine won. The only one of the blogs in our category that mine is better than is that creepy “Trevor’s Blog.”
But I didn’t rob you, and I think it’s mean of Woy to say I did.
I am happy that you had a good time on your adventure. I am sure this has been an amazing time for you. Just know that just because you didn’t win you are still one of the webs best kept secrets–only now, happily, a little less of a secret!
I saw that Dooce cleaned house this year. I wonder if the new design has anything to do with it (particularly the ability to now have larger pictures, even though they didn’t win for photography).
You were robbed.
And you liked Frank Warren? I saw him about two years ago, and wasn’t altogether impressed, to be honest. He seemed a little… self-centered. But that was two years ago, maybe he’s improved since then.
Better luck next year. But congratulations for making it this far this year! Now see, if Ashley DiParlo hadn’t done a report about your blog which I totally wouldn’t have seen if I didn’t happen to stumble upon it, you would have one less reader. That’s consolation, isn’t it? No? Oh. Well, I’m really happy for you nonetheless.
It was awesome to meet you too, chica. I am truly sorry you (or I, ha!) didn’t win. But I love how the Bloggies have introduced me to new sites like yours, and of course, wonderful people like you.
I’m so happy for you that you got to attend! We’ll have to see what we can do about you winning next year! :)
Thanks for sharing the trip!
Something about the Bloggies this year doesn’t sit well with me, but I’m glad you had a good time, and will be voting down the road for your “lifetime achievement”! :)
