I got in one little fight and my mom got scared
June 13, 2008
I’ve been across the country but I’ve never been across the state, and as I write this, I’m on my way to Philadelphia for work-related things, and I’m pretty excited about it despite all of its inferiorities.
I’m just kidding, Philly. I can’t say anything bad about the birthplace of Will Smith and…cream cheese.
I left the puppy with Derrick, which wasn’t difficult at the time, but now that I’m sitting here thinking about it, it’s kind of getting to me. He knows I’m coming back, right? Will he forget about me tomorrow and move on? Little punk is probably chilling out by the pool already, unaware of my absence, all I don’t remember there being a girl in my life. Was she hot?
I swear, I could live in the most glorious, well-kept house and I would still find excitement in leaving. What makes hotel rooms so fantastic?

I love the kid’s face in that pic.
Good luck this weekend, coach. ;)

I think it is the fact that you can do whatever you want and someone else has to clean it up.

been reading for a while. love it. i think the main selling point of hotel rooms is probably the fecal matter on the remotes. and the filthy bedspreads. and maybe even all the foot fungi lurking in the showers. half kidding. there is something fun about hotels though. they can be complete crap and still awesome simply because they are away.

hey you,
may-be it’s because you don’t have to really clean up after yourself. besides who knows you
when you stay in a hotel/or motel room. and what’s going on in philly that requires your presence? oh, one more thing the people in philly ____ (fill in the blank).

Oh man - Fresh Prince reference! Awesome. My favorite was Nightmare on My Street.
“Now I have a story that I’d like to tell
About this guy you all know he had me scared as hell
He comes to me at night after I crawl into bed
He’s burnt up like a weenie and his name is Fred”
Pure genius.

Hotel room explanation is simple - it’s a different locale, you don’t have to clean it, it’s usually not as nasty as the news makes it out to be. But there’s always something that got me about them - the glowing light on the smoke detector…scary! Oh and don’t forget about that weird red light that flashes when the phon…oh wait, the phones don’t have the weird red light anymore it used to look like a giant zit on top of the old dial style phones. What hotel has dial style now?

Hope you have a great time there!
And hotel rooms are always great…for one, we don’t have to fix them ourselves. ;)

How lucky are you to have a job where you’re able to travel, as most of us won’t be able to afford driving across town with this summer’s economy!

Jill - No foot fungi in sight…yet. However, I’m fairly confident in the quality of this particular hotel’s reputation.
Eric - No, they totally still have those big obnoxious red lights, even on the touch-tone phones. It’s no longer zit-like, but it is still there.

As a former Pittsburgher now living in the eastern half of the state, since you chose a mascot for your picture, may I submit for your consideration the greatest mascot ever:

Also, I tagged you for a meme.

Susan - What is that thing, anyway?

I was in Philly once. We stayed at Villanova for a conference and then drove through the city on Sunday afternoon, stopping only for cheesesteaks. Yep. That’s Philly to me.
I like hotels too. There’s just an air of magic around them. I think its the fact someone else makes the bed for me.

Philadelphia has an excellent Thanksgiving Day Parade. Yep, that’s all I’ve got.

I once had an excellent cheese steak in Philly. Other than that, I got horribly lost the only time I was there and was yelled at repeatedly by my aunt.
I think the appeal of hotels is knowing you don’t have to clean them up.

I’ve never commented before, but I’ve been lurking for a while. I felt compelled to comment because my husband and I are going out of town for the first time since we’re had our puppy next week, and I’m SOOOO nervous about leaving her. Everyone tells me she won’t even notice, which is almost worse, but I’m afraid she’s going to think we’re gone forever. Ayiyi!

I was supposed to go to Philly in July to visit my friend, but my mum wouldn’t let me.

The fact that you don’t have to clean up after yourself and you can leave whenever you want!
