      Conformity! (And Week 5)

      November 1, 2007

It’s November, and you know what that means.

Rationalizing against writing an entry every day in November by saying I’d rather post quality over quantity would be presuming that anything I write is of any quality anyway, although I still haven’t decided whether or not to make the full commitment. It was tough last year, but there are worse things. Like Christmas.

And in that case, let’s do whatever we can to drag out November.

I’ve decided to generally be more photographic this month with the daily (more boring?) aspects of my life, so if you don’t feel like reading words there will at least be something to look at. I realized recently that my favorite blogs are those that are candidly anonymous, or that are written by people who boldly detail nearly every aspect of their lives. Because anything in the middle? Literary blue balls.

One of my biggest challenges as a blogger has been to disclose the more personal details about myself, my family, my relationships, etc. That, and coming to terms with the word blog. Let’s see how far I can go, how much regret I can accumulate in a month’s worth of writing. Onward!

As your biggest fan, I look forward to it.

I’ve NEVER participated in any of these things, but this time around I thought it would be fun to try.

I realize already that I was wrong about the fun part (he said with a wink) but I’m committed. We can suffer through it together.

And for crying out loud, don’t worry about the quality of your writing. From what I can see, you do just fine.

Well begun is half done, and from what I can see you’re in grand shape.

The really hard part will be round about the end of the second week. That’s when you’ve used up the easier material but there’s still a whole lot of month left. But you just have to keep plunging on, trusting that when the middle of the third week hits the adrenaline will kick in. And you’ll finish flying.

        You can do this.

Uncle Crappy - Oh good, I could use a cheerleading accomplice. This one’s gonna be a doozie.

Cynthia - And you, my motivational speaker. I feel so empowered!

Tiff - ThatRachel seems like it’s quickly becoming my pseudonym. Except it’s not really a pseudonym. An autonym? Alternate autonym?

Quality vs. quantity is my blogging life in an eggshell. If updating rarely is quality, then I have the best blog on the ‘net.

        Good luck with NaBloPoMo!

My philosophy: there can still be quality in quantity. I look forward to seeing all the photographs that will be accompanying your blog entries this month =]

I have actually never done the NoBloYadaYada before. I signed up for it, but I am so indecisive I don’t know if I can actually do it.

I love the picture of your puppy. I just got a new puppy myself so I am all goo-goo eyed about them.

The more you write, the more chance you have of producing something of quality :)

I know what you mean about the disclosure of personal details- my family know my web adress, and even if they never read it I have to assume that they will. I work by the rule that I should never write something that I wouldn’t say to their faces.

… At least, I work by that rule while I still live with my parents. It’ll probably change once I move out…
