Crafty things
July 5, 2007
I’m very inspired by craft-related websites such as this one, sites that are all color and cleanliness. I still have a lot to learn on the subjects of sewing and artistry, but since I started assisting a seamstress at a bridal salon this summer, I always have to be working on something.
Here are some things I’m working on now.
A bride bought a plain, white satin wedding dress and decided it needed more…stuff. She bought lace to add to the back and train. I’m adding the sequins and pearls.
I found this cross-stitch pattern on e-bay. It’s based on motifs used during the Renaissance. I love the colors. It’s the first time I’ve used linen instead of Aida fabric, which is more graph-like and much easier to see and sew.
Jewelry. I don’t make stuff like this too often. Beads are expensive.
I’ve been trying to illustrate pieces of a short story I wrote a few months ago.
I was going to finish with a picture of homemade cherry cheesecake, but it seems to have disappeared somehow…

I would love to learn how to make lace. Do you think you’ll know enough to make your own wedding dress?
The x-stitch looks wonderful!

I don’t think I’d ever be able to make my own wedding dress. Maybe if I started now - but that’s not going to happen.
