Eighties Prom

April 13, 2008

Ann threw a totally rad 80s prom birthday party Friday night, and there was enough Aqua Net in the joint to bring down a moose. But not quite Randy Savage. He was in top form.

Several celebrities were present, including Prince, ET, and the Fonz, no doubt to scam on the hot, legging-covered tail. There was a balloon arch and thoroughly, deliciously spiked punch. Rick Astley was summoned at some point, and his convincing, hypnotic nature had even Robert Smith of The Cure rocking via boombox.

My very close friend, Boy George, stopped by, much to my excitement — although I ended up shunning him shortly after. He beat me for prom queen. The whole set is here. [Left photo by Dawn]

This looks like an entry from Stuff White People Like. And I mean that as a compliment.

NICE. So many times when people say they’re going to dress ’80s for some kind of get-together, they mean a half-assed sideways ponytail and some whorey blush. I commend you and everyone at the party for going all the way.

Gorgeous, Rachel. Ann’s 80’s party is so much better than the one I went to last year. We were dressed in 80s - Asia style - but many of us still held back from going all the way.

As someone who actually lived through the Big 80s, I must say you all definitely showed the spirit of the decade.
