Must be the bright colors
April 11, 2006
This has been the first semester I’ve ever had to wake up before 7:30am. It’s been wonderful getting all of my classes over with by 2:00pm, and 9:15am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but since daylight savings time came back around about a week ago, the best part has been the sunrise.
My college is a sweeping expanse of hills. And my building, located at the very top of the highest hill, has a view that reaches every corner of campus.
And since the wall facing this view is pretty much a giant window, and the sun rises over the horizon directly across from our dorm, every morning my room is flooded with orange and yellow and red. The sky turns a sharp, bright pink about 15 minutes before my alarm goes off.
I’ve left my blinds open every night for this reason. I even woke up in the middle of the night and subconsciously moved my pillows away from the window so I wouldn’t miss it, even though the intensity of the light which flows into my little cement room makes it impossible not to wake up when the blinds are even cracked.
It’s one of those little things about summer that makes it easier to wake up in the morning. And shop at Old Navy.

Wow… you captured that really well. Sounds incredible. I guess that’s one of the nicer things about your choice to go to college outside of the city. I don’t think I’ve ever really experienced a sunrise like that. Except maybe at the beach.

i am probably one of the farthest things anyone can be from being a morning person but i also love sunrises! it must be great to have such a beautiful view right out of your room!

Wow that sounds amazing. I would love to wake up to that. Unfortunately, I have bad sleeping habits, so I don’t know if I could get up early to see that :X

Hmm it wasn’t that much of an adjustment for me this time around with the daylight savings time. But wow, aren’t those sunrises just amazing?! ;) I’m really glad you get to enjoy all that beauty!

at my school it’s kind of in a vally so you’re ALWAYS walking uphill!
at my house my bedroom is on the east side and there’s no trees infront on my window. when the sun rises and my blinds arent down it’s helllll.

You make me want to move in with you. The view that you described sounds absolutely breathtaking…and I would love to be the one in your bed waking up to the “orange and yellow and red” flooding the bedroom. You lucky girl.
