Old things and new things
November 2, 2007
For some time my Flickr profile* has been, “I like very old things and very new things.” I was thinking today of how I could visualize this, as the majority of my household is in a constant confrontation with itself. Really. Whenever I leave the bedroom, my iPhone and alarm clock (circa ‘93) create such a static-y ruckus that I expect someday to return to find my new Apple device defiantly amputating a worn AM/FM switch.
So, as forewarned, here are some pictures of my favorite things, in opposition with themselves.
*There’s my link, laid out all nicely for you. Now you’re one click away from a new friend. You’re welcome. Or would you prefer a more textual approach?

I love all of those movies!
And jeeze, how many cameras do you have? What are you taking the picture with?! :)
Love this, btw.

I really like this idea, and I especially like the Harry Potter vs Shakespeare photo.

Hey, this is a great post. I hope the challenge of posting every day only helps you. And whether you win or not, I hope you enjoy the game:)

Absolutely awesome pictures!
Thank you for the compliment on my layout. Unfortunately I cannot take any credit for it :) I am too lazy (and behind the times on web designing as of late) to create my own. So I picked that one up from ScribbleScratch.com You can click the link in the credits on the left side of my layout to see what she offers. Lots and Lots of gorgeous layouts.
You have an iPhone? Woo hoo! iPhoner’s unite!

Lisa - I pretty much only use my Nikon. I don’t have the resources at hand for the old Canon. And the picture was taken with a friend’s Canon point-and-shoot.

Love this idea. I have a keroseen lamp sitting on top of my TV. I am so jealous of the Shakespeare book!

I feel your pain. It is most pronounced at my boyfriend’s house. He likes antique furniture and is also into the latest technology. Huge flat panel on antique table. It works for him.
Thanks for visiting my place today. :)

Nicole - Thank you so much! That book is one of my favorite things; It was my grandfather’s. It’s almost 100 years old now.

With the last photo, I think you may have unintentionally made me horny — or was it intentional?!

Leslie - Intentional or unintentional, the results are satisfying.

I have 4 SLRs, I only use my Digital Rebel XT.
I have a black MacBook, I can’t believe how dirty it looks when I take Macro shots of it.
Lastly I am all about the iPod touch. I can’t do AT&T and the touch is really sweet!

Brilliant! I rather love the comparisons. I too love my computer, but enjoy sewing and embroidering by hand. This has inspired me!

That game ruled.

I’m totally jealous of your cameras, both of them! I too have a tendency to surround myself with really old things and really new things. Love antiques and modern furniture, but contemporary makes me want to gag, don’t know why. Fun idea for the pics!

Have you played San Andreas, its to big, they fucked up so bad. Of course the geniuses were thinking “Bigger is always better” by default.

|DBS| - I actually haven’t, it’s the only PS2 game I had on hand, but I was a pretty big fan of the original GTA. Thanks for the heads up.

We have the same old school Cannon SLR. It’s a beast, but an AWESOME beast.
