    Passwords

    February 25, 2006

Does anyone else have trouble juggling their writing between their website and actual pen and paper? Sometimes I think, “I should probably write this down in my Moleskine because it would be more personal and vintage.” But then if it turns into something good, I don’t want to have to write something down and then type it here, because that would be redundant.

Take this entry, for example. Should I be writing this down as a point against technology? Traditional: 1. Technology: 0.

Well, no, because I want to know what you think about it.

    What’s better?

Well, I, for one, stopped writing in my (paper) journal years ago. I find myself much more comfortable with a keyboard ;)

Sometimes I still write in my personal journal the traditional way. But that’s only when I have something to write that I don’t want others to read or know, stuff that I want to keep for my eyes only. I’ve got about 5 diaries in total and I’m still writing in the 5th one.

I feel that its not a matter of which is better, but a matter of personal preference.

i dont think the keyboard will ever fully replace writing for me. or more specifically, i write too often and expencive laptops are annoying to lug around and far more then i can afford. plus, i really like that feeling of liquidy black ink on sketchbook pages.

i think the internet is fine for daily blabbing (ie, lame blogging) but somethings i just dont want to let say, my family/friends/total strangers know about me (ie, interesting blogging). but maybe thats my my website has become art based.

I’ve ignored my paper diary since starting a weblog - it just seems impractical (not to mention the redundancy that would pop up) to maintain both with similar/the same entries. I don’t really care for the whole “I need a private place to write!” thing, so, I found the transition between personal diary to public weblog to be quite smooth.

I have that debate too! I thought I was the only one…

I find that whenever I write something absolutely spectacular online, I go and rewrite that into my journal. That way, all that shitty day-to-day dribble won’t comprise 95% of my notebook paper. But it is up to you, in the end…

I like technology better. I can type way faster than I write, and since my handwriting is kind of messy, people can actually read what i write when i type. lol
