I’ve been playing around with doing something a little different with my posts, and decided against (praise Jesus) totally redoing the format of this site.
My initial reason for starting thatnight was, in all honesty, to get away from expensive, sticky, old-school scrapbooking. In regard to memories, I hoarded everything. I kept keys, tickets, Kennywood wristbands, candy wrappers…anything physical that I could tape to a book. And the books kind of got out of control.
Now, sometimes, I still save some of those things, but mostly I take pictures. Sometimes I take video. And I use Twitter. A lot. Even if I detailed a memory here a few hours after it happened, I liked the fact that on Twitter, I was typing as it was going down. Sometimes, even, Twitter conversations would evolve with some of my friends, and I liked those too.
Besides utilizing my sidebar and posting occasional references, it all really wasn’t connecting with this website as I would’ve liked. There were a lot of things sitting on my hard drive and on the internet that I wasn’t using, not because I didn’t like it all, but because there wasn’t room for everything in a single entry.
In short, if there’s something associated with a memory I’m trying to keep, I want to make it accessible.
Hence, starting now, at the bottom of some (most?) of my entries, I’m going to link any media that relates to the topic of that post for the day. Like Easter eggs! Except unhidden!
You can see an example on my newest post about the plane baby, here.
Hopefully I’m a step closer to making this website out of control.
