Shark teeth

April 22, 2008

Bello has been in the process of losing baby teeth. This means, mostly, that he’s gnawing on everything except his chew toys, especially toes. It also means I’ve been enjoying exposing his two, overlapping rows of teeth to guests, like, Look! LOOK! LIKE A SHARK!

I check every once in a while to make sure everything’s going OK in there, even though when one or two go missing from his gums, I never find them laying around on floors or in food bowls.

This afternoon, he was messing around with a plastic monkey grabber, when a tiny white object flew up into the air and Will grabbed it before it could land and be devoured out of curiosity.

Someone may or may not be getting a slice of pepperoni under their teeny, ratty pillow this evening.

I bet you’re wondering what a monkey grabber is.

SO CUTE! he’s so damn cute.

but just fyi, make sure you play rough with him a lot with his toys, because if all of the baby teeth don’t come out on their own you have to have them pulled. we’re going to spend like $400 having my yorkie’s extra baby teeth pulled. it sucks!!

You’re only giving him pepperoni because you’re trying to get rid of the stuff from poker night.

He’s adorable. But seriously, am I the only person that can not tell where his head is in the third picture? I just don’t see it.

tia - Thanks for the advice! I’ve been keeping watch. Hopefully they’ll all fall out of there without any vet visits.

Madison - That’s a great idea. So far, any time I’ve given him ice cubes, he hasn’t been able to figure out what to do with them. I should probably break them up.

Emma - FALSE! That whole package was gone by the time I went to bed last night.

Lottifish - lol. You’re looking right at the top of his head, as he’s looking down at his tooth.

I bought my nephew a little silver plated “My First Tooth” holder - save that tooth (or another) for ME - Aunt Linda!

OK I have to ask a stupid question to the yorkie owners…Is Belo going to have a whole new face when the new teeth grown in - aren’t the new teeth further up in his mouth now? that looks very strange to me….

I’m going home to look at my CAT!

Doggy dentistry - sort of like raising kids except for the shark-like appearances! Oh and as for the vet thing - you may not have to pay to have the teeth pulled, but they’ll try to snag you in for a routine cleaning and exam. I know, they used to try and convince me to do that with my cats - yeah no.

My yorkie, Rocket, has the same thing. Two of her canines haven’t fallen out yet. We’re just going to have them removed when she goes in for her annual teeth cleaning. Until then we’re calling her Baby Shark Mouth.
