Some fears and a story
November 9, 2006
About a year ago, if asked to name my biggest fears, I probably would have settled on “death” and “routine.” When I considered the question today, two thoughts subconsciously ran through my mind: “locking keys in car” and “spilling liquid on MacBook.”
After pondering the latter, I remembered a story that one close friend shared with me after an especially disagreeable evening.
After drinking heavily for most (read: the entirety) of the night, she proceeded to collapse in bed next to a relatively new sweetie and fall asleep immediately. The relatively new sweetie happened to have a relatively new laptop, which lay closed on his desk across the room. Upon awakening less than two hours later with a bursting bladder, and still completely incoherent, the girl (unfamiliar with her surroundings, and for that matter, the planet Earth) scanned the room for an object resembling a toilet.
She found one, and upon reaching the innocent computer, pulled down her pants, lifted the laptop’s lid, and sat on the keyboard. And so it goes.
