Titanic Sinks! …awkwardly
June 27, 2008
Wednesday morning, as I prepare to visit the Titanic Exhibition at a local museum:
“Carnegie Science Center.”
“Hi! I know you’re supposed to call a couple days in advance for reservations, but my sister and I were planning on arriving at 1, and I wanted to be sure there was room…”
“I’m sorry, we’re not showing today.”
“Oh, darn. All full?”
“No, we were flooded last night.”
“…heh.”
“…”
Awkward giggle.
“Ma’am?”
“I’m sorry, were you kidding, or…”
“No ma’am, we had a water main break in the building.”
“Oh. OH! Well, uh, thanks.” Click.

Too funny! I saw a much drier version of the exhibit when it was in Phoenix, it’s pretty amazing.

Rachel M. - AHAHAHA. Return of the Iceberg.
Wow. How terrible of me.

That’s hilarious,
Us guys here at the tunnel were laughing at the construction guys down there for doing that. Your story makes it 10x funnier now. :-)

Oh my gosh, how ironically hilarious - it survives the bottom of the sea only to get flooded in a museum.
I totally love the title you gave this post! Very fitting. :P

Only in Pittsburgh could such a thing happen!

Is that the one where they give you a ticket and an identity when you walk in the door? I survived but my fictitious children didn’t. So sad.
June 30th, 2008 at 7:11 am
I really hope, at the very least, it was an ice cube machine malfunction.
June 30th, 2008 at 9:46 am
Oh Irony. How I love thee.
June 30th, 2008 at 11:53 am
But wait - I think everyone is missing the main point here - you actually wanted to go visit a museum about a ship that sunk 437 years ago???
July 1st, 2008 at 6:45 am
LOL. The lady on the phone didn’t sound like she thought it was funny, though. Where’s her sense of humor? :-D
