Five seconds of fame
November 9, 2007
Yesterday was Blogfest’s third birthday, and news personality Andrew Stockey made an appearance to shoot a brief story about the local blogging scene.
(Have you ever been in a room while a news story was being filmed? It’s captivating.)
I finally met a bunch of local writers for the first time in person, although in most cases, I’d already been following their websites for months. I think Woy said it best: “I’ve considered link vomiting all over this post to all of those who I talked to, but I’ll spare you and simply say that I truly enjoyed myself tonight.” In short, it was fun.
Here’s a video of the story that aired this afternoon (if you aren’t using Quicktime, you can find it here, with the article). I show up towards the end. Can someone keep a tally of how many times I can say really in a sentence? I lost count.

That’s really cool!! :D I wish we had a “blogging scene” here lmao.

i’d be so afraid to be interviewed by the news.
Did you ever see Talladega Nights? When Will Ferrell is being interviewed and he doesn’t know what to do with his hands?
Funniest scene ever. Also, ME.

I saw you on tv!!!!!
Hehe.
I wish we could have cool things like that in my city but nooooooooo. It would be cool to meet a wide variety of bloggers in one place.

Very cool. Nice interview!
It’s so funny how you feel like you’re on camera for an hour and they use less than 30 seconds of footage.

I think we need to tease Cynthia. She said her rambling was so incoherent that they wouldn’t get a decent soundbite from her. So much for that. ;)

I know, right? She did a wonderful job.

I have Quicktime, but when I try to view the video, I get neither video nor audio.

Yeah, seems to be a problem for two or three people. I’ll mess with it, but I think this one still works.

It does, but I suspect it’s lower res and lower quality than what you’re trying to show.
